ZGF Architects and Kaiser Permanente have gone in front of the Design Commission to receive Design Advice on a proposed parking garage and plaza on Block 80 and 81 in the Lloyd District. The project would create 484-stall parking structure, as well as “a pedestrian plaza, covered public seating, space for a lunchtime food cart pod, a new rain garden adjacent to the streetcar station, and a public bicycle parking facility proposed as part of the Lloyd District Bicycle Parking Program”

Focus: Portland’s Tallest Planned Buildings (2016)
It is just over a year since Next Portland last did a roundup of the tallest buildings planned or under construction in Portland. At that time, we counted 25 buildings over 100′ in height planned. Today we count 40. Given the length of time it takes to complete a high rise building, many of the buildings on the 2016 were also on the 2015 list. Four buildings are no longer on the list this year, due to having been completed: Block 17, Pearl West, the Aster Tower and Park Avenue West. Seven buildings that were still in the design phase last year are now under construction. No building on last year’s list is known to have been cancelled.

Multnomah County Health Department Headquarters receives Design Advice (images)
ZGF Architects have gone before the Design Commission to receive Design Advice on the new Multnomah County Health Department Headquarters. The 9 story, 148′ tall, building will house clinical functions, associated workplaces, and administrative offices for the Health Department. At the ground level the building will include a pharmacy and work space, a “gallery” facing the street, and a potential lease space. Floors 2 to 4 will be occupied by clinic and clinic administration spaces. Floors 5 to 9 will mostly be occupied by office space, with a south facing terrace at the 9th floor. The majority of roof area will be covered by an ecoroof. No vehicular parking is proposed.
